Cultural Resources
ARC’s Cultural Resources Team provides a wide variety of cultural and archeological services to support the compliance and planning needs of our government and private sector clients. The vast majority of our services are for government clients in support of the requirements of Section 106/110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), as well as other federal, state, and local regulations.
Section 106 of the NHPA requires Federal agencies to take into account the effects of their project and development actions on historic properties. It also requires Federal agencies to provide the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) with the opportunity to comment on such actions, if there is a potential to affect historic properties. In coordination with the NEPA process, Section 106 reviews should be carried out when screening a project for a Categorical Exclusion, during preparation of an Environmental Assessment (EA) and during preparation of any Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
Our staff is experienced with Class I, II, and III Cultural Resource Inventories as well as Phase I, II, and III archeological surveys in support of a variety of public and private sector projects. ARC’s Cultural Resource staff specializes in assisting our clients in navigating what can be a complex compliance process involving federal, state, and local agencies.
